Sound of Silence

In high school I was in the marching band, and one year our show was Simon and Garfunkel.  One of the songs that we played a rendition of was the Sound of Silence.  For a while I just played the notes and didn’t think much about it.  But then, as I grew up a little, I started to think more about what the song meant; how could silence have a sound to it? Isn’t silence just that…silence? But then I thought about it more.  It is in the silence that we hear the most.  Our lives are so loud that we really cannot hear anything.  It is in the silence that we actually hear the most.  Over the years I have thought a lot about this idea and as my faith in God grew, I realized that this lesson about silence is very important- it is in the silence that God whispers to us.
